All women percussion band in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas - Batala Band - is an international all women band, that plays Afro-Brazilian, Samba-Reggae rhythms and is open for membership to all women over the age of 18 years old. Batala Band is available for private parties, corporate parties, fund raisers, festivals, parades, workshops and many other events in the Washington DC, VA and MD areas.

The Batala Percussion Band started in Washington, DC in June, 2007. We're an international all women band, that plays Afro-Brazilian / Samba-Reggae rhythms.

All proceeds of the band go toward providing instruments and costumes for the members. Joining Batala is free of charge to all women regardless of race, religion, income, sexual orientation or musical experience; however, the purchase of the Batala Starter Kit is necessary.

We currently have over 60 women in the band, and are closed for new members at this time.

Rehearsals

When: Every Saturday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm
Where: We are back at Farragut Square, metro red line.

Please, be aware that we might change our rehearsal location due to performance, weather etc. Make sure to check our calendar before coming.
